FEMA Disaster Recovery Center open in Ponca City

FEMA’s Disaster Recovery Center opened Thursday in Ponca City at the Ponca City Chamber of Commerce building at 420 E. Grand, and will be open Friday, Saturday and Monday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day. The DRC will not be open on Sunday.

The DRC provides a space for recovery specialists from FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration to provide information on the recovery services and assistance programs available to those who have suffered damage and losses.

A DRC is a readily accessible office set up in a central location near a disaster scene where citizens can find information about recovery programs and ask questions. Workers there can help individuals register for disaster assistance. They can also provide referrals and help with appeals. This service is available to home owners, renters, and businesses.

State and federal assistance to help Oklahomans recover from the recent severe storms is now nearly $64 million in combined funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, U.S. Small Business Administration low-interest disaster loans and paid out claims by the National Flood Insurance Program.

FEMA’s Individuals and Households Program has approved more than $13.9 million in Individual Assistance for Oklahoma homeowners and renters.
