Loren “Cookie” Scott

Loren “Cookie” Scott, age 75, of Ponca City, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at his home in Ponca City, Oklahoma.

Friends and loved ones may pay their respects at the funeral home from 1-8pm Saturday, July 27 and Sunday, July 28. A graveside committal ceremony will be held at 9:30am Monday, July 29 at Longwood Cemetery with a celebration of Cookie’s life held following at 11:00am at the Hospice of North Central Oklahoma Carolyn Renfro Event Center, 445 Fairview Ave., Ponca City, with Chris Short officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.

Loren was born on August 2, 1943 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Pascal and Florence (Crocker) Scott. As the story goes, the family was traveling when he was born and they took him home in a cookie box and his nickname stuck. Cookie has been a long time member of the Ponca City community. He married Denise Whitlow in June of 1967. They had three children, Dondi, Brad, and Levi before they decided to separate. As a young man, Cookie worked for his father as a welder on oil tanks in the area. In 1978, he began working for Kay County as a road foreman before retiring in the mid 1990s. After leaving the county, Cookie helped his son Brad and Brad’s wife Ginger start their trucking company, where Cookie has been working until just recently. Later, Cookie married Rosemary Heidlage, while remaining close friends with Denise. Cookie lived a life of fun, comradery and adventure. He always had a place for people to gather and spend time with one another, whether in a shop building, his house, or just some of his farm land. As well, he was a regular at all of the local watering holes, where Cookie enjoyed catching up with his old friends. At times, he played bass in country music bands at many of the same bars where he was a regular. Cookie was an avid stock car racing fan and more recently a big fan of his grandson’s motocross races Old cars were another passion Cookie held. He enjoyed restoring and driving the classics with a 1978 El Camino as his most recent ride. Cookie’s life has been lived to the fullest and many will miss his presence.

Survivors include his wife Rosemary of the Home, children: Dondi Wimberley and husband Chris, Brad Scott and Wife Ginger, Levi Scott, all of Ponca City,grandchildren: Bradley and Kaylee Wimberley, Trevor, Tanner, Braxton, and Easton Scott. Brothers: Pascal (Bud) Scott and wife Fern, Danny Scott and wife Ramona, Sister-in-law Barbara Scott, Brother-in-law Mark Heidlage and wife Heather, many nieces and nephews and his closest friend Louie Womack. Cookie was preceded in death by his parents Pascal and Florence Scott, Son Patrick Scott, brothers, Billy Scott, Fred Scott, sisters Vivian Cook, Dovie Young, and Debra Cecil, and grandson Wesley Wimberley.
Casketbearers will be Trevor Scott, Tanner Scott, Bradley Wimberley, Darin Grimes, Michael Kelly, and Tanner Young, with honorary casketbearers Louie Womack, Jim Martin, Lee Dickison, Jimmy King and Darrell Lampe.
