Commissioners declare emergency for flood damage repair

Ponca City Now - May 29, 2019 9:56 am

Ponca City’s Board of Commissioners approved a measure Tuesday night declaring an emergency for ground repairs around a 16-inch raw water transmission main.

The declaration allows the city to waive notice and bidding requirements under the competitive bidding act.

The ground repair work is for the 16-inch raw water transmission main serving Phillips 66, and commissioners approved up to $200,000 for repairs.

On May 17, during the flooding in Ponca City, a hole 115 feet long, 100 feet wide and 7 to 15 feet deep formed around the line south of South Avenue and east of 14th Street. The hole must be repaired before the water line can be repaired. That will require stabilizing the bank around the hole.
