Personal injury collision in Kay County

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported that a personal injury collision occurred at about 9:10 a.m. Sunday on Interstate 35 at mile marker 228, about 5 miles north of Blackwell, OK in Kay County.

The patrol said the accident involved a 1994 Dodge Caravan driven by Kayla Suggs, 30, of Blackwell, OK. She was transported by Blackwell EMS to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS, where she was admitted in stable condition with no apparent injuries related to the crash.

The Highway Patrol’s report stated that the vehicle was southbound on I-35. The vehicle departed the roadway to the left and entered the median. The vehicle then continued south in the median for approximately one tenth of a mile and then reentered the roadway. The vehicle departed the roadway to the right, went into a broad slide, and impacted a culvert. The vehicle rolled three quarters of a turn, coming to rest on the passenger side of the vehicle. A seatbelt was equipped and in use. The condition of the driver at the time of the accident is under investigation. The report notes that the road conditions were wet and the weather was cloudy at the time of the accident. The cause of the collision is attributed to an unspecified medical condition.
