Recovery workers retrieved the body of Larry Elliswoth Larimore, 77, of Blackwell, early Thursday afternoon about 400 yards west of where his truck was overtaken by rushing flood waters and swept away.

Larimore was caught in the flood about 5:30 a.m. Tuesdsay on US 177, a mile and a half north of Blackwell on Dry Creek Bridge. His 2012 Ford F-150 truck was northbound en route to Wichita when he drove into water that was over the roadway.

The truck started to flood and take on water when Larimore opened the door to exit the truck and was overtaken with the rushing water and swept away. The truck was swept away by the floodwaters and traveled a quarter of a mile down the bar ditch and stopped under the Dry Creek bridge, where it was found Wednesday.

Larimore’s body was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Oklahoma City.
