Kay County Health Department holding additional tetanus clinic Thursday

Ponca City Now - May 22, 2019 9:50 am

Due to ongoing need, the Kay County Health Department will offer an additional tetanus immunization clinic for Kay County residents.

A special clinic will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2019, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Fairgrounds Event Center at 800 South Main Street in Blackwell, OK. There will be no fee assessed.

Tetanus boosters are recommended for adults and adolescents every 10 years. However, if a person experiences a wound that could have been contaminated by dirt, flood water, etc., it should be repeated if it has been longer than 5 years from the last tetanus injection.

Children under the age of 10 years will need to present to their primary care provider or the local health department to determine their need for vaccine.

For more information, call the Kay County Health Department at (580) 762-1641.
