4-year-old boy dies in accident south of Pawnee

PAWNEE — A fatal collision occurred sometime after midnight Wednesday on State Highway 18 approximately 4/10 mile south of County Road 5600, 9 miles south of Pawnee, in Pawnee County, Oklahoma.

A  2010 Ford Escape SUV driven by Kendra Leann Womack, 30, of Oilton, Oklahoma, was northbound on State Highway 18. The SUV departed the roadway to the left and struck a standing tree.

Womack was transported by medical helicopter to St John Medical Center in Tulsa, where she was admitted in critical condition with trunk internal, trunk external and leg injuries.

The boy  was pronounced dead at the scene by medical professionals. His body was transported under the direction of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to their Eastern Office in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to determine the manner and cause of death.

The collision remains under investigation by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol’s Traffic Homicide Unit.
