OSU to commemorate 9/11 anniversary with memorial stair climb at Boone Pickens Stadium

(STILLWATER, Okla., Sept. 10, 2024) — OSU’s Fire Protection Society will host the 2024 Memorial 9/11 Stair Climb inside Boone Pickens Stadium on Sept. 14. Participants, including OSU students, faculty and staff, as well as firefighters from the surrounding area and across the country, will climb the equivalent of 110 stories in honor of firefighters and emergency personnel who responded at the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.

WHEN: 9 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024

WHERE: Boone Pickens Stadium, 700 W. Hall of Fame, Stillwater, OK  74075

DETAILS: Registration/check-in will be at 8:00 a.m. The climb starts at 9 a.m.

BACKGROUND:

OSU has hosted the memorial stair climb for over 13 years, this year marking its 14th. The Fire Protection Society, which is unique to Oklahoma State University and founded in 1937, is the oldest student organization on campus. The OSU Firefighter Combat Challenge is the nation’s only university-based firefighting competition team.
