Katie Parr named Wildcat of the Week

Ponca City Now - April 30, 2019 12:59 pm

The 13th Wildcat of the Week is Po-Hi Senior Katie Parr.

“The Wildcat of the Week Prize Patrol honored Katie Parr today as the No. 13 winner of this well-deserved award. Katie is very active in Student Council, is the Captain of the National Champion Po-Hi Steppers, and is the Salutatorian of the Class of 2019,” Superintendent Shelley Arrott said.

“Katie is a very disciplined young lady who puts forth her best effort in all that she strives to accomplish. She sets goals for herself and puts in the dedication and discipline to accomplish these goals,” Arrott said. “Katie is a natural leader who is confident, yet humble, and conducts herself with dignity and class. She is very supportive of her fellow Wildcats and is respectful to everyone she encounters. She is a strong and talented young lady, and I cannot wait to see what she accomplishes in life. Even though we will miss her presence at Po-Hi next year, this next chapter of her life will be met with Katie exemplifying the characteristics of the Wildcat Way.”

Arrott said that “as a side note, Mr. Dilbeck and I interrupt the recipient’s class and honor the Wildcat of the Week in front of their peers and teachers. After the presentation and animated discussion of the Wildcat of the Week’s positive traits, we have the class participate in a popcorn answer, pop quiz regarding the Wildcat Way characteristics and what each letter of the word WILDCAT represents.

“Today we brought Officer Welch, School Resource Officer, with us to support our students with the quiz. Officer Welch can rattle off the Wildcat Way characteristics as quickly as anyone! The Wildcat of the Week presentations are one of the many highlights of my week. I appreciate our patrons who sponsor this wonderful award.”

Po-Hi Principal Thad Dilbeck and Arrott presented Katie with a “Wildcat of the Week” T-shirt, Wildcat window decal, and a gift certificate from Ground Round.

The “Wildcat of the Week” Award is sponsored this year by Heather Cannon Honda. The award is for a deserving high school student who follows the characteristics of the Wildcat Way which are Work Ethic, Improve, Leadership, Discipline, Compete, Attitude, and Teamwork. These characteristics may be exhibited in any setting and the award is open to all Ponca City High School students.

Several Ponca City patrons were involved in making the “Wildcat of the Week” a reality. These partners include: Tina Christian, Senator Bill Coleman – TEAM Radio, Heather Cannon – Heather Cannon Honda, Ground Round, and Tyndall Dentistry.

Each week a new “Wildcat of the Week” will be selected from the nominations of TEAM Radio listeners and viewers. Winners will receive a free meal from Ground Round and a T-shirt from Boss Custom Tees. PCPS will make the presentation weekly at Po-Hi.   If you know an outstanding student at Po-Hi who is living the Wildcat Way, please use the form in one of these links https://www.poncacitynow.com//32875-2/, or visit www.PoncaCityNow.comwww.PoHiSports.com, or www.pcps.us.
