Law Day set for Thursday

Ponca City Now - April 30, 2019 12:42 pm

Law Day is Thursday, May 2, by proclamation of Gov. Kevin Stitt.

The entire day is focused on the celebration of “Free Speech, Free Press, Free Society” this year, as we cannot have a free society without free speech or free press, Assistant Ponca City Attorney John Andrew said.

From 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., individuals can call 800-456-8525 to connect with statewide attorneys. From 7 to 8 p.m., Kay County attorneys will be manning the lines at (580) 762-1655.

The Kay County Bar Association recently was named Bar Association of the Year by the Oklahoma Bar Association for the first time in its history. Kay County Bar members will perform other functions during May, including handing out Law Day art and writing contest awards and giving out over $20,000 in scholarships to law students with a connection to Kay County.
