Brylen Liberton and Jackson Weibling returned home after a fun-packed week in Washington D.C. Each summer, more than 70 students from across the state participate in Oklahoma’s Youth Tour. These students are chosen by their local rural electrical cooperatives to represent them at the nation’s capital through an essay and interview contest. Oklahoma Youth Tour began with a Celebration Luncheon in Oklahoma City. Early the next morning, the students departed for the nation’s capital. While on the trip, students toured many places including Baltimore Inner Habor, Fort McHenry National Monument, Arlington National Cemetery, Iwo Jima Memorial, Smithsonian Museums and Washington Monument. The students wound down their week with a reflection party before traveling home. Oklahoma Youth Tour is coordinated by the Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperatives and sponsored by rural electric cooperatives.
