State Sen. Bice to challenge Oklahoma US Rep. Horn in 2020

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – Republican Oklahoma state Sen. Stephanie Bice says she will run for the U.S. House against Democratic Rep. Kendra Horn in 2020.
Bice said in a prepared statement Wednesday that Democrats who won the House majority in November have threatened economic growth in Oklahoma.
While not mentioning Horn by name, Bice said that the state can’t have a representative answering to Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and further expressed contempt for the Democratic party agenda.
Horn upset incumbent Republican Rep. Steve Russell in November to become the first Democrat in more than 40 years to be elected in Oklahoma’s 5th Congressional District, which includes one of the portions of Oklahoma City.
Bice was first elected to the state Senate in 2014 and currently chairs the Senate Finance Committee.
