Arley Joe Johnson – Veteran

September 24, 1941 – April 15, 2019

Arley Johnson, 77, beloved Father, was called to his eternal resting place on April 15, 2019. He entered this world on September 24, 1941, in Vinita, OK, born to Melvin and Elsie Pitzer Johnson.

Funeral services will be held 10 am Saturday, April 20,2019, in the Grace Memorial Chapel with officiating. Interment will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2019, in the Blue Jacket cemetery in Blue Jacket, Oklahoma. Visitation will be held at Grace Memorial Chapel on Friday, April 19, 2019, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Arley came to Ponca City as a child and the family moved around to follow work, He then returned to Ponca City in the late 1940’s and graduated from Po High in 1959. Upon graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy serving on Destroyers and Aircraft Carriers receiving several commendations, he served his country for over 20 years retiring in 1986. He was married to Bonnie Jean Hathorn, she preceded him in death in June of 2017. Arley enjoyed reading, playing board games, dominoes, working crossword puzzles and traveling. Arley was a dedicated family man and he enjoyed spending time with his family. While living in Ponca City he worked at the Public library, and the Foundry as a metallurgist for a time, and he also worked for the Oklahoma Blood Institute. Arley was a member of the VFW and American Legion. Arley moved to Arkansas in 2010. Arley was known for his sense of humor and he was blunt about speaking his mind and he always had a good story to tell.

He is survived by his 3 sons; Stephen Johnson and wife Susan of Long Beach,CA, Cash Johnson of Long Beach, CA, Nicholas Johnson and wife Danie of Cabot, AR.2 daughters; Wendi Perry and husband Scott of Elko, Nevada, Cassie Todd and husband J.T. of Ponca City, OK 1 brother; Arthur Johnson and wife Barbara of Drumright. OK and 1 sister Linda Meyer and husband Duane of Ponca City, OK and grandchildren;Sarandon McAdams, Courtney Perry, Brandon Perry, Day McGlothlin, Justice McGlothlin, Cypress Todd. also surviving are numerous Nieces and nephews.

Arley was preceded in death by his parents, wife; Bonnie, son; Nathaniel Johnson, brother; Allen Johnson and nephew; Scott Meyer.
