Ponca City Public Schools adjust school calendar; won’t make up snow days

Ponca City Now - April 10, 2019 4:00 pm

The Ponca City Public School District has made the following Board-approved modifications to the current 2018-19 school calendar.

Students will not be required to make up snow days taken on Feb. 7 and Feb. 27 because the district continues to meet the requirements of the 1080 instructional hours for state accreditation purposes.

April 19, 2019 (Snow Day #2)

  • NO SCHOOL FOR ALL STUDENTS AND EMPLOYEES (The Board has approved this day as a paid holiday for all employees which will allow them a holiday without any loss of pay.)
  • All schools and offices will be closed this date.

May 20, 2019 (Snow Day #1)

  • NO SCHOOL FOR ALL STUDENTS
  • All employees will work May 20, 2019
  • Teacher check-out day will be moved to May 20 (Teachers will not be required to return on May 21)
  • Hourly employees will work their full schedule on May 20 to ensure there is no loss of wages.

For several months, the Board has been discussing calendar options regarding snow days. By making the unprecedented decisions listed above, the Board of Education expressed their appreciation for all that PCPS employees do to make a positive impact for the students of Ponca City. The dedication and hard work from district employees is very much appreciated!  #teampcps
