The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported a personal injury collision occurred about 4:49 p.m. Friday on North Perkins Road, about four-tenths of a mile north of Lone Chimney Road, which is about 4 miles north of Stillwater, OK in Payne County.

The patrol said the accident involved a 1989 Ford Bronco driven by a juvenile male whose name has been withheld, 15, of Coyle, OK. The driver was transported by AirEvac helicopter in serious condition to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, where he was admitted for head and trunk internal injuries.

A passenger in the vehicle, Michael McClung, 19, of Stillwater, OK refused medical treatment at the scene for trunk internal and trunk external injuries.

The Highway Patrol’s report stated that the vehicle was southbound on Perkins Road, when the driver began to make the vehicle fishtail. The vehicle lost control on the gravel road, causing the vehicle to go into a broad slide. The vehicle then rolled 3 times, ejecting the driver approximately 20 feet south of the area of impact. Seatbelts were equipped in the vehicle, but not in use by either occupant. The condition of the driver is listed as still being under investigation and the cause of the collision is attributed to unsafe speed for a gravel road.

Investigated by Trooper Tony Harper 239 of the Payne County detachment of Troop K. Assisted by Trooper Steffon Williams #587 and Trooper Shane Newell #408 of the Cimarron Turnpike detachment of Troop K, Stillwater Fire Department, Life Net, and AirEvac.

This report is based upon the trooper’s investigation of this collision. It may contain the opinion of the trooper.
