LeeRoy Hoose of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Thursday afternoon, March 28, 2019, at the Integris Health in Edmond, Oklahoma, at the age of 81 years.
LeeRoy Hoose was born on May 30, 1937, in Briartown, Oklahoma, to Albert Lee and Lindy Maggie Rachel (Dowling) Hoose. In 1950 he moved with his family to Braman to make their home. In 1951, the family moved to Blackwell where LeeRoy attended Blackwell Public Schools graduating with the class of 1957. Following his education, he began working for Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas. On June 5, 1960, he married Mary Ruth Buxton on a family farm and the couple settled in Blackwell where LeeRoy continued working at Boeing. He later worked as a coremaker for Blackwell Zinc Company and Acme Foundry and worked there until the plant closed. Upon its closure, he began working for the Electron Corporation and retired in 1996. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and worked with the Royal Ambassador’s for several years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, gardening, and raising birddogs. He also served as a Boy Scout volunteer helping with their many camping trips.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ruth Hoose of Blackwell; a daughter, Michelle Burnett and husband James of Blackwell; a son, Mark Hoose and wife Debbie of Edmond; a sister, Juanita Purdy and husband Larry of Blackwell; four grandchildren, Kelsey Burnett of Ponca City, Kolby Burnett of Stillwater, Meaghan Johnson and husband Eric of Oklahoma City, and Brittany Hoose of Oklahoma City; one great grandchild Liam Benjamin Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Loyd Hoose.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 5th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Meador of Blackwell officiating.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Ralph Epperly, Dale Sewell, Mike Richmond, David Miller, John Hood, and David Haney.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made in his honor to the American Cancer Society in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
