Construction begins on Ponca City Broadband utility

Ponca City Now - March 11, 2019 4:25 pm

Construction of the outside plant for Ponca City Broadband became official today with the official groundbreaking of the outside plant for the phase 1 service area for the new utility. Klaasmeyer Construction, Inc., headquartered in Conway, Ark., will be constructing all of the outside plant. The estimated completion date for that construction is June 10, pending weather delays.  This photo shows the initial hole being dug for an underground portion of the transport ring, which will connect the Central Office to the Network Operations Center.  Once the transport loop is complete, Klaasmeyer will begin installing distribution fiber in the various service areas in Phase 1, then connecting the individual customers who have signed up in advance for the service.
