Dogs get remodeled temporary homes

Dogs and puppies are finding temporary homes in state-of-the-art kennels.

The Ponca City Humane Society started remodeling its dog runs six weeks ago.

The remodel was funded by individual donors and grants.

Patricia Amador with the Humane Society said dogs were fostered during construction.

“Only two of the fosters didn’t find homes while they were out, everyone else did find a home,” Amador said.

13 dogs found homes during the construction time.

The Humane Society currently has two litters of puppies and is on intake.

Amador said the runs have glass doors and are indoor, outdoor runs.

“ They are gorgeous looking, but very functional," Amador said. "They help with noise control and cross contamination. We also got new flooring, epoxy flooring that helps with disease, bacteria doesn’t hold on to it, easy to be cleaned.”

They used all of their $80,000 dollar budget.

They are still working on some electrical things that were not originally budget.

Amador said she is hoping to get a donor to help with these finishing touches.
