Cimarron Public Transit Community Forum set for Thursday

Ponca City Now - January 30, 2019 3:41 pm

United Community Action Program, Inc./Cimarron Public Transit will hold community forums related to
public transportation for Creek, Kay, Osage, Pawnee and Washington counties.

Staff requests input from riders, local businesses, municipalities, social service agencies, Tribes, private providers, health facilities, elected officials, and the general public to assist in preparing for the future.

The advantage of receiving open communication is to help the program better match service with needs. The program must prepare for a variety of scenarios during uncertain times. Priorities will be focused on sustainability and aligning available resources most efficiently to meet the greatest needs.

Feedback will be given directly to program staff to provide a better understanding of challenges and concerns from the community’s perspective. Cimarron Transit recently submitted a letter of intent to Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) to apply for federal assistance for program year 2020, to operate a rural transit program. The transportation plan will be incorporated into the agency’s annual application for funding under Section 5311 formula grants for Rural Areas Program, which is due to ODOT by March 31.

The meeting for Ponca City will be at 11 a.m. Thursday,  Jan. 31, in the Barnes Room at City Hall.

Those interested in attending may request free transportation to/from the meeting. A limited number of free rides will be available to first callers who schedule 72-hours in advance. Those unable to attend a scheduled meeting are encouraged to submit responses by email to [email protected], faxed to (580) 718-0981 or mailed to 501 Sixth Street, Pawnee, OK 74058.

For questions about accessibility or to request accommodations, please contact Laura Corff at (580) 718-
0444 or [email protected].
