March 15, 1934 – January 2, 2019
Winford “Wimp” Vice died in Ponca City, Oklahoma on January 2, 2019 at the age of 84.
Winford was born March 15, 1934, in Talala, OK to Henry Molar Vice and Margueritte Escue Vice and was an only child. Winford graduated from Nowata High School in May of 1952. On December 11, 1954, Winford married the red rose of his life, Phyllis Jo Dale. Winford and Phyllis started out their married life together in San Diego, CA where Winford was stationed in the Navy as a Navy Corpsman. He joined the Navy to see the world, but never left San Diego.
Winford was a dedicated servant to God and his family. He attended and was a member of Eastern Heights Christian Church of Ponca City, Oklahoma. He had a very blessed life and gives all the glory to God. Along with the many blessings, he had a fun life. He has visited all 50 states plus many countries. While he did not have the same love for playing music that Phyllis had, he took her to play music with various bands and church members.
Winford worked at Reda Pump for over 20 years, General Pump 10 years, Standard Pump 10 years, and Cookshack 10 years.
Winford was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Vice and Margueritte Escue Vice and the love of his life, Phyllis.
Winford is survived by his five children: Billy Glenn (Bill) Vice of Ponca City, OK; Debra Sue (Debi) Vice Climer of Euless, TX; Richard Allen (Rick) Vice and daughter-in-law, Patricia Vice of Atoka, OK; Robert Henry (Robby) Vice and daughter-in-law, Lola Vice of Collinsville, OK; and Diana Marene Vice Been of Superior, CO; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial ceremony for Winford will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Trout Funeral Home Chapel.
Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.
