October 2, 1930 – December 7, 2018

Norma Marie Claybaker, formerly of Blackwell, passed away in Grapevine, Texas on Friday, December 7, 2018. She was 88.

Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 14th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ned Moerbe of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in the Blackwell Cemetery.

Norma was born October 2, 1930 to Robert and Landa (Bersche) Lambring and raised on a farm northeast of Blackwell. She attended Waddell grade school and graduated from Blackwell High School in 1948. She attended Wichita Business College and then worked for Wiles Insurance Agency as well as Zook Wholesale.

She married Ralph Edward Claybaker on May 6, 1950, and they settled on their present farm southeast of Blackwell. Throughout her life, Norma was very involved in the community. She volunteered through her church, her children’s schools, the Red Cross, and the local hospital. She was also a member of the Prairie View Extension Homemakers and was proud of her many awards won for baking. Norma continued to manage the family farm after her husband passed away in 1996 and was honored at the 2005 Women in Agriculture Conference. She loved playing bridge with her friends, crocheting blankets for her grandchildren, and baking for family and friends. In 2017 she moved to Texas to be closer to her family. She was a member of Crown of Life Lutheran church in Colleyville, Texas.

She is survived by her two daughters, DeAnn Cline and husband Jack of Fort Worth, Texas, and Cathy Williams and husband Neil of Southlake, Texas; one son, Alan Claybaker and wife Denise of St. Louis, Missouri; her sisters, Renan Nance of Miami, Florida and Barbara Reinking of Oklahoma City; three grandsons, four granddaughters and three great-grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her sister Alice.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are Jordan Claybaker, Ryan Mankin, Cole Mankin, and Tom Hiddemen.

A memorial has been established in her honor with the American Heart Association in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
