John Hiram Sixkiller of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, died Thursday, November 29, 2018, at his home at the age of 46 years.
John Hiram Sixkiller was born on November 22, 1972, in McKinney, Texas, to Roger Lee and Marelene Cora (Olin) Sixkiller. In 1973 he moved with his family to Blackwell where he grew up and graduated from Blackwell High School in 1991. As an adult he taught computer classes for Career Tech in Oklahoma private prison system. In 2013 he began working for Valir Health Systems as a systems administrator in the I.T. Department and was working there at the time of his death. He was a member of the Cherokee Tribe of Oklahoma and was very proud of his heritage. Since the age of thirteen he enjoyed and participated in many bowling leagues and tournaments. He also loved to attend concerts and cheer for the Oklahoma Sooners. Johnny lived life to the fullest and enjoyed making the people around him happy.
He is survived by his father, Roger Sixkiller of Blackwell; two sisters, Lisa Sixkiller of Blackwell and Deb Bostic of Tad, West Virginia; two brothers, Steve Sixkiller of McAlester and Greg Sixkiller of Blackwell; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marelene Sixkiller; maternal grandparents, Lawrence and Dorothy Olin; and paternal grandparents; Hiram Abif and Georgia Sixkiller.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 6th in the Blackwell Church of Christ with Lanny Jobe officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Sam Ashford, Jeff Mazurier, Mike Newman, Jerry Wieland, Chris Darrow and Keith Ritchie. The Class of 1991 will serve as honorary casketbearers.
A memorial has been established in his honor with the Blackwell Public School Foundation in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
