Jimmy Dean Bounds, age 59, resident of Ponca City, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, November 2, 2018 in Ponca City.
Jimmy Dean Bounds was born on July 1, 1959, in Konawa to Tom Loye Bounds and Barbara Ann Wheeler Bounds. He was raised in Konawa where he attended Vamoosa Elementary school then later graduated from Konawa High School in 1977. Following his education he joined the U.S. Army, serving as a Unit Supply Specialist. Along the way, a young lady in the Konawa area caught his eye. Jimmy married Tammy Lynn Barber on December 4, 1982 in Konawa, Okla. His early vocation was working in the oil fields, but Jimmy knew college could open more doors for him. In 1987, Jimmy attended the OSU Institute of Technology in Okmulgee; graduating in 1989 with an Associate in Applied Science. Ponca City welcomed Jimmy in 1992 when he began working for Conoco in the refinery; where he continued to work for the rest of his career. Most recently, Jimmy has served Phillips 66 as an Electrical and Instrumentation Field Coordinator. When he wasn’t working, Jimmy adored his family and was involved in coaching both softball and basketball but he especially loved being a part of his son’s robotics club. His hobbies consisted of gardening, fishing and golf. As grandchildren came into the family, Jimmy was enamored with his grandchildren and had great fun coaching, playing, and spending time with them.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years Tammy Bounds of the home; children: Crystal Bickford of Ponca City, Jennifer Bounds of Bartlesville, and Nicholas Bounds of Ponca City; grandchildren: Emma Bickford, Caden Bounds, and Madison Bounds; siblings: Lucy Dotson of Oklahoma City, Mary Minor of Unionville, VA, Carolyn Hughes of Pauls Valley, OK, Brenda Campbell of Tulsa, OK, Wanda Bryce and husband Butch of Konawa, Clifford Bounds of Perry, OK, and Richard Bounds and wife Margaret “Tooter” of Konawa, OK; special uncle and aunt: Orville and Dorothy Hill of Sudan, TX, special cousins Mike and Patty Hill of Sudan, TX, and Cary and Debbie Ogerly of Lubbock, TX as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his siblings: Leonard Bounds, Jack Bounds, Jerry Bounds, Glen Dale Bounds, and Phyllis Ward.
Casket bearers in Ponca City will be Blake Scott, Phoenix Sage, Adam Riggs, Wade Vandeburgh, Chance Randall, and Tyler Randall. In Konawa, the casket bearers will be Shawn Roberts, Joe Morgan, Tommy Bounds, Jeremy Bounds, Jonathon Bounds, Jerrod Collinsworth, and Zack Collinsworth with honorary casket bearer Sonny Collinsworth.
Friends and loved ones may pay their respects at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 7th from 8 am – 8 pm. The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 5-7 pm on Wednesday. A funeral ceremony to celebrate Jimmy’s life will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, November 8, 2018 at the Newpoint Church. Jimmy will be laid to rest with U.S. Army Honors at 11:00 am Friday, November 9, 2018 at the Vamoosa Cemetery in Konawa, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.
Jimmy was a survivor and fought the fight but the bastard finally won!
