Rollins appointed director of Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority

Oklahoma State Department of Health Interim Commissioner Tom Bates has announced the selection of Adrienne Rollins as Director of the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority.

Rollins has been a member of the implementation team for OMMA, in addition to her role as OSDH Director of Health Policy, Planning and Partnerships.

OMMA is a service area of OSDH, and is responsible for implementation, licensing and administration of the state’s medical marijuana program.

“Adrienne has been a key member of the team that has worked since April to develop and maintain OMMA. Her continued guidance and willingness to fill this role will prove beneficial for the work that is ongoing to meet the requirements of SQ788,” said Bates. “We interviewed a number of candidates who brought unique skills and experience to the table, but as we moved through the initiation phase of the program, the expected role of the director changed and we felt that Adrienne would be the best person to keep the program on track.”

Rollins will continue to split time between OMMA and her position in Health Policy, Planning and Partnerships. She has been with OSDH since 2012, serving previously in programs dealing with tobacco prevention and cessation, improving population health, and providing access to health care. Prior to that she was with the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services. Rollins earned a Bachelor of Arts with an emphasis in Public Relations and Organizational Communication from Cameron University and her Master of Public Administration with a focus in public policy from the University of Oklahoma.

Bates also announced that Ashley Scott will join the agency as legislative liaison. Scott has recently worked under Oklahoma House of Representatives Speaker Charles McCall and former speaker Jeff Hickman as Legislative Coordinator and Appointments Director.
