Sharon S. Brantley

October 11, 1943 – October 2, 2018

Sharon S. Twitchell Brantley, age 74, long time resident of Ponca City, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2018 in Oklahoma City.

Friends and loved ones may pay their respects at the funeral home from 12-8pm Saturday, October 6 and from 1-8pm Sunday, October 7. A ceremony to gratefully celebrate Sharon’s life will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Taylor officiating. Sharon will be laid to rest in a private committal ceremony at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.

Sharon was born on October 11, 1943 in Fort Scott, Kansas. She was raised by her parents Robert Twitchell and Cleo G. Swope Twitchell Leterle. Early in life they lived in the Fort Scott, KS area. However, her father’s career would take a turn which showed her the world. When he went to work for Phillips Petroleum, he was sent on assignments to various oil producing areas including Bakersfield California, Italy, Iraq, and Iran. Sharon graduated high school while living in Iran and moved to Ponca City when her mother moved here in the late 1960’s. While she was in Bakersfield, Sharon met Jack Brantley. They were teenagers and had a brief romance before her father’s work moved Sharon from there. As life would have it, they reconnected later in life and were married on August 4, 1991 in Guam, making their home in Ponca City. Sharon’s world travels as a child gave her wisdom and awareness in ways not often seen amongst those without higher level degrees. As well, it gave her a clever eye for the arts. Sharon was a skilled artist, specifically working with stained glass. Her works continue to adorn many homes and Christmas trees. Family was a passion Sharon held. Their wellbeing and needs were high on her list of consideration. She was a great mother. Yet, it was her deep faith in her Creator that led her life in all ways. Sharon adored God and her church family at First Baptist Church. She will be missed by all those who loved her.

Survivors include her beloved husband Jack of Ponca City, treasured sons: Richard J. Hope and partner Cord Travis of Sherman, TX, Patrick T. Hope and Fiancée Lori Smith of Corpus Christi, TX, and David S. Brantley and wife DeAnn of Bakersfield, CA, cherished sister: Phyllis Salina of Indianapolis, IN, uncle Gerald Swope of Bella Vista, AR as well as many dear cousins and friends.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents and son Brantley Hope.
