Municipal offices available in Newkirk and Blackwell

Candidates for municipal offices in Blackwell and Newkirk file Declarations of Candidacy beginning at 8 a.m. Jan. 13

Cheryl Howard, Secretary of the County Election Board, said the filing period ends at 5 p.m. Jan. 15.

Declarations of Candidacy will be accepted at the County Election Board office in Newkirk for the indicated offices for each of the following municipalities:

Blackwell:

Mayor 3-Year Term

Newkirk:

Commissioner No.1 3-Year Term

The municipal office at stake in Newkirk will be filled in the nonpartisan general election to be held on Mar.4 with a runoff if needed on April 1, 2014.

Blackwell’s Mayor race will be filled in the nonpartisan General Election scheduled April 1 with a primary election to be held on Mar. 4 if needed.
