GERONIMO, Okla. (AP) – The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a state trooper has been treated and released from a hospital after a collision in Comanche County.
The highway patrol says the crash happened Thursday afternoon on the H.E. Bailey Turnpike. According to a preliminary report, Lt. Jerry Howell was parked on the eastbound shoulder of the road with the emergency lights activated on his vehicle.
The highway patrol says the driver of a tractor-trailer looked away from the road to pick up a cup and drifted onto the shoulder. The truck skidded more than 90 feet before striking Howell’s vehicle on the shoulder.
The highway patrol says Howell suffered a head injury and was treated and released from a hospital.
