L.H. Hank Kruckeberg
January 27, 1955 – August 6, 2018
Lindell Henry “Hank” Kruckeberg, age 63, resident of Ponca City, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, August 6, 2018 in Ponca City.
A memorial ceremony to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, August 10, 2018 at 10 o’clock in the morning at First Presbyterian Church of Ponca City with Pastor Robert Montgomery and Dr. Perry Hassell officiating. The family will have a visitation from 5 to 7 o’clock in the evening on Thursday, August 9 in the Trout Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.
The only child of August Kruckeberg and Linda (Kobler) Kruckeberg, Hank began his earthly journey on January 27, 1955 in Marion, Illinois. Hank earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois. He married the love of his life, Nancy Ann (Nichol) Kruckeberg on January 30, 1981 in Wichita, Kansas and they had four children together. In July of 1983, the family moved to Ponca City where he was employed as a telecommunications engineer for Conoco.
Hank was a devout Christian, a loyal, quiet, caring, and attentive individual. He loved spending time with his wife, kids, and grandkids, and his hobbies often revolved around their activities. There are so many things he will be remembered for, from his tenor voice and love of Broadway plays and theater, to his enjoyment of Rock and Roll and Bluegrass music. The annual trip to Winfield for the Walnut Valley Festival was a highlight for Hank, as well as camping and cooking in his Dutch oven with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Hank also loved the family’s annual “Bounce House Day”, reveling in the joy from his family and friends as he manned the cotton candy and popcorn machines. Hank and family were heavily involved in Ponca City High School music programs, and Hank and Nancy voluntarily ran the concession stand at Po Hi football games for nearly ten years. In addition, Hank was on the Arts and Humanities Council in Ponca City, serving as treasurer for the last several years. Over the years he was an active member of both Woodlands Christian Church and First Presbyterian Church. Many will always think of him as Santa Claus, since he was proud of his fluffy white beard that was a perfect complement to his St. Nick costume at family and community events each December. He will be dearly missed by those who knew him.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Nancy; children Nic (Christy) Kruckeberg of Edmond, OK, Linn (Wesley) Blohm, Ann (Jay) Norris, and Dawn (Ryan) Winfrey, all of OKC, OK; grandchildren, Gabe, Cole, Sam, Abby, Emmy, and Riley Kruckeberg, Nelson and Anderson Blohm, and David Winfrey.
Hank was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Hank’s name to Solar Under the Sun (solarunderthesun.org).
