Lark Allen Thompson of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Sunday morning, August 5, 2018, in the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home in Blackwell at the age of 75 years.
Lark Allen Thompson was born on March 4, 1943, in Harriman, Tennessee, to Lark Andrew and Minnie Elizabeth Thompson. He grew up in Tennessee and attended Brighton County High School. He later moved to Oklahoma where he attended Northern Oklahoma Junior College and received vocational training in welding. In 1965 he owned and operated a used furniture and second-hand store until 1975. In January of 1975 he married Wilma Williams Rutledge and the couple made their home in Ponca City until 1977 when they moved to Blackwell. While in Blackwell he worked for the Acme Foundry and Electron Corporation. He also worked as a painter for Certified Coatings of California before working in NOICA at Conoco in Ponca City. He retired in 1991 due to health issues. He enjoyed reading western novels, fishing and hunting.
He is survived by four stepsons, Tommy Rutledge of Tuttle, Marvin Rutledge of Bartlesville, Tim Rutledge of Blackwell and Patrick Rutledge of Wichita, Kansas; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a sister, Lela Young; and two brothers, Franklin and Monroe Thompson.
A graveside service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Thursday, August 9th in the Blackwell Cemetery with Chaplain Drew Drawbridge of Ross Hospice officiating.
A memorial has been established in his honor with Ross Hospice in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
