Clinton Eugene “Gene” Hindman of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died early Sunday morning, August 5, 2018, in the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home at the age of 74 years.
Gene Hindman was born on November 28, 1943, in Roswell, New Mexico, to Clinton W. and Florence (Heydenreich) Hindman. As a young boy her moved with his family to Medicine Lodge, Kansas, where he graduated from Medicine Lodge High School in 1962. Following his education he married Joyce Lee Cook on November 23, 1962, in Sun City, Kansas, and he began working for Barber County. He later began working for Cities Service Gas Company and was transferred to Sublette, Kansas, for a short time before returning to Medicine Lodge. In 1972, the company transferred him to Blackwell where he continued his thirty-five year career until his retirement in 2000. He then began working for his son, Clint, at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, for two years before returning to Blackwell. Upon his return, Joyce and he started a lawn mowing business which they owned and operated for several years. His wife preceded him in death on May 10, 2013, and he continued to make Blackwell his home. He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Ponca City and Kay County Bass Club. He enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. His passion was fishing, where he won several trophies in various tournaments.
He is survived by three daughters, Angel Moyer and husband Mick of Blackwell, Tiaynna Murray of Blackwell, and Revalee Broce of Blackwell; two sons, Clint Hindman and wife Denise of Blackwell and Aaron Hindman and wife Amy of Ponca City; two sisters, Betty Kimball of Payson, Arizona and Peggy Swenson of Gilbert, Arizona; seventeen grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Maryann Broce.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 11th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Blackwell with Rev. Jeff Koch of the First Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Landon Hindman, Mickey Moyer, Mack Moyer, Clinton Hindman, Jessie Quilimaco and Nathan Hindman.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his honor with the Kaw Lake Association in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
