OKC and Tulsa airports have flight cancellations in winter storm

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City and Tulsa International Airport each reported several cancellations as the second winter storm in 15 days moved into southwestern Oklahoma.

The National Weather Service issued an ice warning for most of the midsection of Oklahoma from the state’s border in the southwest with the Texas Panhandle to the northeastern corner that abuts Arkansas, Kansas and Missouri.

The weather service said up to a half inch of ice accumulation was possible.

Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management spokeswoman Keli Cain says the state’s Emergency Operations Center was activated before noon and state highway officials say sand and salt trucks are ready as needed.

The storm comes 15 days after the first winter storm brought snow, sleet and ice to the state and was blamed for 10 deaths.
