Pioneer Technology looks at possibility of Emergency Services Training Center

Ponca City Now - July 30, 2018 11:10 am

Pioneer Technology Center is working to develop specifications for a possible Emergency Services Training Center with plans to put it out for bid in the near future.

The districts that would be included include Ponca City, Blackwell, Tonkawa, Newkirk, Fairfax and the surrounding areas.  The center will benefit Fire/EMS, law enforcement, safety and industrial fire safety.

Currently, district personnel seek training out of the Kay County area for several different emergency services.

This local training center on the Pioneer Technology Center campus would allow teaching to take place in a central location, avoiding the need to travel for training. This would save money for volunteers and paid employees in these services.  Area industry could also take advantage of the training center.

This is still in the early stages, but Pioneer Tech is speaking with area industry and emergency services about the feasibility.  Pioneer Tech only wants to bring this center to the Kay County area if it will be used and if there is a need.
