School district names interim head wrestling coach

Jared Wynn has been named interim head wrestling coach for Ponca City Public Schools, pending board approval.

“I am excited to continue the great foundation work we have been building as a team the last few years I have been with this program,” Wynn said. “I am looking forward to this season and building our athletes to higher performers. Higher performance is succeeding beyond standard norms consistently in our education and competitions. I plan to make our Wildcat family proud.”

Ponca City School Athletic Director Jason Leavitt said, “Ponca City wrestling will be in great hands with Jared Wynn.”

“Jared will be a great transition for our student athletes moving forward,” Leavitt said. “He has been instrumental in rebuilding our program at all levels. Our coaching staff is top notch and understands the rich tradition here in Ponca City.”

Wynn is a Blackwell High School graduate. While in Blackwell, he earned two high school state championship titles. Wynn furthered his education at Oklahoma City University.

He was a lay coach for Deer Creek of Edmond for two years. Wynn came back home to be an assistant coach in Blackwell in 2012 when they won a team championship. He came to Ponca City in 2015 and has been teaching PE at Liberty Elementary and assisting Leavitt when he was former Wrestling Coach .
