Service for retired Sheriff Van Hoesen set for Wednesday

A celebration to say goodbye to retired Kay County Sheriff Everette Van Hoesen will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Episcopal Church, with a graveside send off at Resthaven immediately following.

Services will be directed by Grace Memorial Chapel.

Van Hoesen died Saturday at the age of 69.

Van Hoesen served in the Ponca City Police Department for 25 years, from 1972 to 1997. He was elected sheriff in 2004, taking office in January of 2005. He retired in 2016.
