Ponca City Now - May 18, 2018 11:08 am

The nationwide campaign to enforce the usage of seat belt usage begins May 21, encompasses the Memorial Day weekend, and ends June 3.
The Ponca City Police Department receives funding through a competitive grant process from the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office to enforce traffic safety laws.

“The usage of seat belts is not optional” says Police Lieutenant Jason Filtz, who organizes the grant for the PCPD. “Safety belt usage is the best way to guarantee that your injuries will be reduced if you are involved in a crash.”

The grant provides funds to place additional patrol officers on the street and there will be a saturation patrol during these dates.
The Oklahoma Highway Safety Office receives their funding through the National Highway Safety Administration.
