The Grand Marshall for this Saturday’s Ponca City Veteran’s Day parade has been announced. It’s Medal of Honor recipient Dwight Birdwell, who was one of the first U.S. soldiers to engage the enemy during the Tet Offensive in Vietnam. Birdwell received the Silver Star for valor during the offensive. That was upgraded to a Medal of Honor earlier this year. You can find out more about Birdwell in the book “A Hundred Miles of Bad Road”, a work that he co-authored with Keith William Nolan. The Veteran’s Day Parade will start at 10:45 Saturday morning in downtown Ponca City. Click below to hear Gary Miles preview the parade on the Morning Buzz on WBBZ Radio.
