October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and this Saturday, you’re invited to take part in the Six Nations Domestic Violence Walk at the Standing Bear Museum. In 2019, Oklahoma ranked 8th among states with the highest homicide rate for female victims killed by male offenders. In 2020, of the 119 Oklahoma domestic violence deaths, 18 were identified as Native American. In Oklahoma, the number of intimate partner homicide victims in 2020 was 46; the youngest victim of intimate partner violence was 17 and the oldest was 89. The Six Nations and relatives Domestic Violence walk will begin at 11 am. Free T-shirts and hot dogs & chips will be given to participants after the walk (supplies are limited).
