Trela Gay Mattocks
December 22, 1945 – April 7, 2018
Trela Gay Mattocks of Ponca City passed away peacefully on April 7th with her daughter by her side holding her hand.
Trela is survived by her daughter Cyndee and husband Kevin, grandchildren Trevyn, Korrie and Kelsie all of Ozark, Missouri. Also surviving was her Aunt Bette Wallace and her husband Joe of Newton, Kansas, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roy and her son Jeff.
Born on December 22nd, 1945 to James and Doris Usrey, she grew up attending Ponca City schools and graduating from Po-Hi. She later attended beauty school and went on to be a hairdresser for 50 years. She married Chuck Norman and had two children, Jeff and Cyndee.
In later years, she married Roy Mattocks and they shared many happy years together of bowling and gambling with their casino families. Trela will always be remembered for her caring ways and her quick wit. She will also be remembered for being an avid OU fan as well as OKC Thunder. Trela attended all sporting events of her children and was a team mom to many, often enjoying dressing up as a clown and handing out candy. She was an avid bowler and shared many happy years of bowling, gambling and shenanigans with her best friends Lynda, Mary, Cheryl, Irma, Patty and Marsha just to name a few.
In lieu of flowers, in honor of my mother 1 ask for all to show a random act of kindness towards others to make this world a better place, mom would love that.
Please join the family as we “Celebrate Trela” at Lydies Cottage, Marland Mansion on Saturday May 12th from 12-2 for refreshments, visiting and a balloon release.
Although my heart is breaking, the peace I hold within is knowing you are holding Jeff in your arms again.
