Micah Fry, the Workforce & Community Education Assistant/Golden Tigers Coordinator at Cowley College, was recently named the recipient of the fall 2022 Tiger Heart Award.
According to a news release from the college, the award is presented each semester to an employee that has gone above and beyond to help a fellow employee, therefore exhibiting the heart of a tiger.
Fry received the award from spring 2022 Tiger Heart Award recipient Rhoda MacLaughlin.
“It is Micah’s sweet spirit, professional demeanor, and constant willingness to lend a hand to those around her that make her an easy choice for this award,” MacLaughlin said.
Along with her current position, Fry also serves as an adjunct instructor and a professional tutor in the Writing Center.
Prior to working at Cowley, Fry was named the Cowley College Student of the Year in 2013 and also the Outstanding Student of Arkansas City. Her father, James, is the coordinator of the ACES Program at Cowley College, her brother, Nathan, is the part-time library assistant at Cowley College, and her husband, Ruy, is the Tiger head men’s soccer coach.
Past award recipients include Rikki Hettenbach, Robin Graves, Liz Shepherd, Somsy Sengvixay, Ashley Leighty, and Rhoda MacLaughlin.
“Looking at those who have received this award in the past, I am completely honored to be counted among them,” Fry said. “I am so grateful to be a part of this Cowley family.”
