Two injured in accident on Interstate 35

Two people from Minnesota were injured in an accident about 3:27 p.m. Tuesday on Interstate 35 at mile marker 209.5, about 5.5 miles south and 1.5 miles west of Tonkawa, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports

Walton Keither Fritze, 76, of Cottage Grove, MN, was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox and Karen Marie Fritze, 76, also of Cottage Grove was his passenger.

The two were transported by ambulance to AllianceHealth Ponca City and then transferred to St. John – Tulsa in stable condition. Walton Fritze had a head injury and Karen Fritze had internal trunk injuries.

Their vehicle was northbound on Interstate 35 when it departed the roadway to the left, struck a culvert, went airborne, hit the ground and came to a stop, the Patrol said.
