New warrant scam added today to growing list of scams

A local resident reported receiving a letter in today’s mail notifying him that he had a criminal warrant from the town of Quinton, OK along with a pending suspension of his driver’s license. They asked for a cashier’s check or money order.

This is another scam. “Please, don’t give anyone any of your financial information over the phone or pay someone because they threaten you with arrest,” said Detective Division Richard Evans. “The IRS doesn’t make collection calls; they send notice by mail. The City Utilities are not going to call and say you owe them money or your service will be disconnected in a matter of minutes and you would have received notice placed on the front door of your property. The Municipal Court doesn’t send warrants out in the mail like this one,” Evans continued.

Citizens with questions or concerns can call the non-emergency number to the Police Department, 580-767-0370.
