Job Fair set for March 29 at University Center

Ponca City Now - March 22, 2018 10:30 am

With many Ponca City companies seeking new employees and offering training programs to teach needed company skills, such as Mertz Manufacturing’s training program for welding, Ponca Works Manager Liz Leaming saw the need for a job fair to attract possible employees for these companies.

On Thursday, March 29, 19 companies with more than 100 job openings will be at the University Center. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. These employers will be taking applications, interviewing and hiring that day for positions.

As the base economy of manufacturing continues to increase in the Kay County area, the demand for skilled employees is exceeding current local supply.   Ponca City employers need more people to fill these currently open jobs in Ponca City.

Ponca Works does many “grow your own” workforce programs with local primary and secondary students such as “Career & Cookies” and “Girl Power! Camp.”  These program seek to educate future employees on the needs of the local economy.  Many of these currently open positions require certain skill sets as well as certifications and secondary education.

The job fair will be hosted at the University Center and is open to the general public.

Resume assistance will be available, so make sure to bring your skill and past job information with you.

Mark your calendars and attend this job fair at 2800 North 14th Street from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 29.

For more information about the job fair, including employers and jobs available, please go to www.poncaworks.com or call Liz Leaming at (580) 765-7070.
