Obituary for James “Jim” Skluzacek

James “Jim” Floyd Skluzacek passed away at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 18, 2018, in Perry, Oklahoma.

Jim was born May 17, 1940 to James L. Skluzacek and Emma Bina Skluzacek in Devils Lake, North Dakota. In 1951, he with his father and sister moved to Perry, OK.

On August 12, 1964 he married Peggy Ann Johnson. They made their home in Perry, where he went to work for Charles Machine Works as a machinist and retired after 34 years.

Jim will be remembered for many things. He was a self-taught jeweler. His jewelry will be treasured by many family and friends. He was also a self-taught artist. His paintings and sketches brought him much joy. Each piece had its own unique story that he loved to share. He was a humble man who was proud of the art he restored at his church.

Other hobbies included yard work, spending time with his dog Summer, fishing and playing with his grandchildren.

Jim and Peggy were blessed with two children: daughter Gina Jones and husband Gary of Cushing, OK and son Mike Skluzacek of Perry, OK; granddaughter Kerrie Jones and fiancée Kevin Roe; great granddaughter Klara Jones of Cushing, OK; grandsons Cooper Skluzacek of Edmond, OK and Keagan Skluzacek of Cushing, OK; grandchildren Haeleigh, Kiera, Gavin and Triston Blank of Cushing, OK; sister Genevieve Freese of Perry, OK and many nephews and nieces.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, brother Floyd and sister Agnes.

Rosary will be Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church of Perry, OK.
The family would like to have a time of reflection on Jim’s life on Thursday, March 22, 2018 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Trout Funeral Home of Perry, OK.

Services will be Friday, March 23, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church of Perry, OK, with interment following at Mount Carmel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be to the Humane Society in care of Trout Funeral Home of Perry, 1408 N. 7th St., Perry, OK 73077.
