Personal injury collision in Osage County

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported a personal injury collision occurred about 1:34 a.m. Sunday on County Road 5305/5245, 6 miles west and 1.7 miles south of Wynona, OK in Osage County.

The patrol said the accident involved a 1991 Ford Taurus driven by Michael Gregory Hopper, 19, of Wynona, OK. Hopper was not injured.

A passegner in Hopper’s vehicle, Craig Matthew Brown, 21, of Pawhuska, OK was transported by Hominy EMS to St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa, OK where he was admitted in stable condition with head and trunk internal injuries.

A second passenger in Hopper’s vehicle, Cassandra Hopper, 27, of Wynona, OK was not injured.

A third passenger in Hopper’s vehicle, a juvenile female, 17, of Barnsdall, OK was not injured.

A fourth passenger in Hopper’s vehicle, Alexis Raye Lewis, 23, of Barnsdall, OK was not injured.

The Highway Patrol’s report stated Hopper’s vehicle was southbound on County Road 5305/5245 preparing to negotiate a curve right. Hopper stated he did not know the curve was there and was going too fast. Hopper’s vehicle departed the roadway left. Hopper’s vehicle left approximately 129 feet of skid marks on the roadway prior to departing the roadway left. Hopper’s vehicle traveled approximately 45 feet and struck a ditch. Hopper’s vehicle continued approximately 36 feet, rolled 1/2 a turn onto its top, and came to rest. Brown was ejected from the vehicle. Seatbelts were equipped, but only in use by the three uninjured passengers. The report notes that the roadway was dry gravel. The cause of the collision is attributed to unsafe speed on a curve.
