Personal Injury Collision in Payne County

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported a personal injury collision occurred about 6:34 p.m. Friday on SH33 at Sangre Road, about 3 miles west of Perkins, OK in Payne County.
The patrol said the accident involved a 2001 Toyota Camry driven by Robert James Vecellio (SIC), 50, of Perkins, OK. Vecellio was transported by LifeNet ambulance to Stillwater Medical Center, then transferred Saint Francis in Tulsa, OK in serious condition with head, trunk internal, and arm injuries.
The second vehicle involved was a 2014 Ram 1500 driven by James D. Creel (SIC), 40, of Drumright, OK. Creel was transported by POV to Cushing Hospital where he was treated and released for trunk internal injuries.
A passenger in Creel’s vehicle, Debbie S. Wiley (SIC), 45, of Drumright, OK was transported by POV to Cushing Hospital where he was treated and released for trunk internal injuries.
A second passenger in Creel’s vehicle, Maddison L. Long (SIC), 15, of Drumright, OK was transported by LifeNet ambulance to Stillwater medical center where she was treated and released for trunk internal injuries.
The Highway Patrol’s report stated Vecellio’s vehicle was west bound on SH33. Creel’s vehicle was east bound on SH33. Vecellio’s vehicle made a left hand turn to travel south on Sangre Road, turning into the path of Creel’s vehicle, then striking Creel’s vehicle head on. Seatbelts were equipped and in use by all four people. The report notes that the condition of both drivers was apparently normal. The cause of the collision is attributed to an improper turn by Vecellio.
