Marian M. Darwin, formerly of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Wednesday evening, January 17, 2018, in the Integris Hospice House in Oklahoma City at the age of 81 years.
Marian M. Darwin was born on July 17, 1936, in Enid, Oklahoma, to Robert Lee Hutcheson and Werthena (Gritz) Hutcheson Bumgardner. She grew up and attended Blackwell Public Schools graduating with the class of 1954. Marian was devoted to her hometown of Blackwell and faithfully organized all of the class reunions for the class of 1954. On August 15, 1954, she married Alfred William “Al” Darwin in Blackwell and together they owned and operated Al’s TV Service until his death on February 12, 2000. In July of 2015 she moved to Quail Ridge Senior Living Center in Oklahoma City where she was very active in all center activities. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Order of Eastern Star – Blackwell Chapter and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. During her life she was an avid bowler and bridge player.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan Rae Croasdale of Oklahoma City, and Sara J. Darwin of Ft. Worth, Texas; a son, Freddie Darwin of Ponca City; two brothers, David Hutcheson and wife Karen of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, and Delmar Bumgardner and wife Teo of Ft. Worth, Texas; three sisters, Virginia Frost and companion Lane Van Allen of Deming, New Mexico, Harriett Bumgardner and husband Ken Zigler of Loveland, Colorado, and Nancy Vale and husband Richard of Tulsa; two grandchildren, Grant Darwin Croasdale of Oklahoma City, and Andrea Leigh Croasdale Woudwyk and husband Tyler of Richardson, Texas; and great granddaughter, Eleanor Marie Croasdale Woudwyk of Richardson, Texas.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Werthena Bumgardner; a sister, Johanna Sizemore; and a son-in-law, Bobby Croasdale.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 22nd in the First Presbyterian Church in Blackwell with Rev. Karen Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
