Megan Brown, fifth grade teacher at Liberty Elementary, recently applied and received a flexible seating and sensory tool grant for her classroom from DonorsChoose. “With the help of the OSDE, my friends and my family, my project was fully funded,” said Brown.
“I requested flexible seating as it allows additional opportunities for movement in the regular day of learning. It increases oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow and core strength,” said Brown. “This helps keep students alert and focused. In my classroom, I have a ‘take a break’ area that is used for calming down and processing big emotions. At this spot, there are sensory tools placed to aid in this process.”
