In an effort to promote and build school spirit and eliminate barriers for all students to be involved in any activity, the district desires a unified district-wide mascot and school colors.

The Wildcat will be the mascot with school colors of red and blue for all schools in the district, beginning with the 2018-19 school year.

“I am so excited and proud the Board of Education resolved for all PCPS sites to adopt the Wildcat mascot and navy blue and red school colors. This resolution will be a game changer in promoting school pride, spirit, and tradition,” Superintendent Shelley Arrott said.

“It is an immediate goal of this district to eliminate any barrier for our students to participate in any of our excellent extra-curricular activities,” she said. “Beginning next year, all of our students will be a Wildcat their entire school years with Ponca City Public Schools, which will certainly help promote this goal.”

“The support of this initiative by our staff, Board of Education, and community has been a consorted effort to build school and community unity. I personally would like to thank our wonderful community and school family for embracing this change. Go Wildcats!”

At their Jan. 8 meeting, the Ponca City School Board of Education adopted a resolution that stated, “Whereas the Ponca City Board of Education reaffirms its commitment to promote and build school spirit with the District and the City of Ponca City; and whereas the PC BOE and Administration desire to eliminate barriers for all students to be involved in any activity; therefore, be it resolved that every school in the district will adopt the mascot of Wildcat and the school colors of red and blue beginning with the 2018-2019 school year as a symbol of unity, spirit and pride.”
