Dorothy “Dottie” Ann (Morris) Powers passed away on Friday, December 22, 2017 in Ponca City. She was 72 years old. Dottie was born on July 29, 1945 in Drumright, Oklahoma to her parents, Leroy Morris and Rosa Mariee (Wade) Morris.

Dottie spent most of her life in Ponca City. She graduated from Ponca City High School in 1963 and attended OSU. She was an avid reader, sometimes reading two books a week. She was an artistic person who taught knitting to many friends and family. She could do tatting, painted jewelry, made custom doll clothes, and raised a family. She stretched her entrepreneurial legs by running her own Ebay store business named Kaw Valley Mercantile. She sold fine Victorian clothing for ladies and gents, which included jewelry, hats, and jabots all over the world.

She married Charles E. Powers on May 25, 1985 in Ponca City. They resided in Ponca City until 1996 when Charles was transferred to Houston with Conoco. They later moved to Colorado and then back to Ponca City and made their home at 1101 N. 1st. St.

Dottie is survived by her husband of 32 years Chuck Powers of Ponca City, brother Tommie (Julia) Morris of Spring Hill, Florida, sister-in-law Charlene Kochanowski of Indiana, sons Jason (Heather) Powers of Rochester, Indiana and Adam (Heather) Powers of Lincoln, Nebraska, nephew Steven (Sayde) Morris of Temple, Georgia, niece Kristi (Troy) Mosac of Villa Rica, Georgia and 5 granddaughters: Jessica, Kira and Samantha Powers of Rochester Indiana and Hailey and Taylor Powers of Lincoln, Nebraska.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Mariee Morris of Ponca City.

At Dottie’s request there will be no funeral service. She will be cremated and laid to rest next spring at Eddy New Home Cemetery.
