Ponca City Firefighters responded to a fire after 1 p.m. Sunday in the 800 block of North Elm.

The home was fully engulfed by flames when crews arrived. Nearby neighbors George Lockett and Gordon Lunn  said they helped rescue three kids.

Lockett was preparing to leave and Lunn said he was coming home when they spotted the resident trying to battle the flames with a water hose. Lunn heard cries for help and with out thinking ran inside the burning home to help. He later discovered he had burns on his jacket.

Lockett said Lunn carried two children out the front door and he carried one child out the back door.

Lunn said he believes the fire started on the front porch.

The juveniles were checked by EMS.
